However, the uninstall didn't work. Instead, it left behind some damaging files, and, when, I reinstalled, OOo.org still didn't work. I was TERRIFIED that I was going to have to dump OOo.org entirely and switch to MS Word, or try to. The damaging files in question contained what is called a "profile." The uninstall should have done a clean uninstall, and uninstalled this, too.
