------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jul 13 12:42:46 +0000 2007 ------- Microsoft is currently hyping the "Open" nature of its file formats Meanwhile OpenOffice.org completely misses advertising its support for standard ISO formats On installation OO.o file types are not registered with neutral names like "ODF ISO word processor file" but with application-specific names Their icons are also OO.o branded The end result is users feel OO.o uses just another proprietary format. And a niche one at that. So you get user rejection. Also many tools attach the icon & name declared in the OS when transmitting files, so any OpenOffice.org user that tries to send (or save in CMS) files produced in OpenOffice is tagged with the "not serious dangerous Linux geek" in PHB corporate minds (they do respect ISO) Please un-brand ODF files. That would greatly help OO.o penetration in corporate contexts. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
