2007 -------
Debugged a little bit ...
My registry has an entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/JavaSoft/Java Development
Kit/1.5, with a key "JavaHome" with value "1". Yes, "1" only.
I don't know where this key comes from, but this seems to be the problem, since
this value is later on passed to the mentioned osl method.
Cleaning up my registry - i.e. removing the entry, and another one with a
similar symptom - made the assertion disappear. And, finally, now thw Java
Options page is able to give me a default selection, which never worked before!
Resolving INVALID.
