When exporting as EPS the lines look OK (on screen) but when I convert that file to pdf (using epstopdf) the lines are really thin and very light. When printed (budget laserprinter) the lines are barely visible on the paper Normal lines have the same problem when width is set to minimum (default, 0.00cm), but when set on any other value (like 0.01cm) the problem disappears.
