This changes the reference from $B$1 to $B$2:B2. The formula still works in original cell, but guess what happens when you copy the original cell to multiple rows? Everything gets screwed up. This is something that I'd believe every spreadsheet user will bump into regularly. But yes, this issue is duplicate of 73766. Sorry about that. It's a shame that updates break some basic functionality of the program and it doesn't get fixed in next release or future releases either. If I remember right this defect has existed from 2.2 and still seems to be dragged along in 2.3... More frustrated users in our 20 user organization. The biggest frustration in OOo is still the performance, specially in sreadsheet.
