2005 -------
Our build systems (mostly SuSE based) do not have this restrictions - I never
build with root permissions, neither does our RE. So this seems to depend on the
distribution one uses to build.

ls -al /usr/src/packages/BUILD/.
total 8
drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 4096 2005-03-12 07:08 .
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2004-11-25 06:00 ..

My modification to the original patch was to add a unique id to the build
directory created, so there should not be a problem for parallel builds.

Since there is a simple workaround (changing the permissions of BUILD), I
suggest to lower the priority.

obr @ cloph: I am about to move the creation of the files to pack to the
makefile.mk in share, so that they can be picked up from unxlngi6.pro/misc
directly. However, as a quick fix, I suggest to override RPM_BUILD_DIR to be
something (existing) in $(MISC).
