MS Equation 3.0 objects can be inserted into writer (.odt) documents, but they
do not render usably in edit mode. Instead of an image of the equation, the
object name (e.g., "Object1") is rendered in the object box. The box appears to
be properly sized (varies appropriately with the equation) but the content is
not useful.

The objects themselves are well-behaved other than this. The objects render
correctly in print preview and PDF generation.

This feature worked properly in a recent earlier version of OOo -- not sure but
think it was 2.1.x, but could be earlier.

To reproduce:

- Open a text (Writer) document
- Position cursor anywhere in text
- Insert > Object > OLE Object ... > Further Objects > Microsoft Equation 3.0
- Enter equation in MS Eqn 3.0 editor
- Close equation editor
