------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 19 19:19:50 +0000 2007 ------- 1) Create a new document. 2) Save it as "test.odt" 3) Click on "File->export as PDF". A file selector dialog box opens 4) Type "T" in the filename field. Auto-completion suggests the filename "test.odt", which already exists in the current directory. 5) Type "Return". This chooses the "test.odt" filename as your PDF's filename. 6) Type "Return" again. This closes the file selector dialog. A dialog box pops up, warning you that you are about to overwrite an existing file. 7) Don't read it, and type "Return" again. You have destroyed your original file. If you quit OOo right away, you loose your document. There is no bug in OOo, but careless (repetitive?) manipulation by the user may lead to data loss. A more user-friendly way of dealing with this situation is, when exporting a PDF file, to check whether its extension is ".pdf". If it isn't, either : 1) change it silently to .pdf, or append a ".pdf" extension, or 2) warn the user that he may be trying to use the wrong extension, and ask if he wants to change the extension to ".pdf". Make "yes" the default value. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
