------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 19 21:02:39 +0000 2007 ------- When I use the File Browser on Red Hat to browse to a folder containing OpenOffice documents, the documents have the appropriate icons and everything looks fine. However, if I double-click on the file to open it, the icon changes to Sun's Java symbol and a dialog box pops up with an error message. For example, if I was trying to open document.odt, I would get the following message: ------------------------------------ Cannot open document.odt The filename "document.odt" indicates that this file is of type "OpenDocument Text". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type "Java Archive". If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system. Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for "Java Archive", then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file. ---------------------------------------- This happens for all OpenOffice files, not just Writer files. In order to open the file, I have to right-click the file and select "Open With" -> "Open with OpenOffice.org 2.3 Writer". This problem occurs with all of my OpenOffice files, not just specific ones. The problem seems to have appeared when I installed OOo 2.3. I am running Red Hat Linux and installed OOo 2.3 without the JRE. The version of Java on my PATH is 1.5.0_11.
