We didn't do it because Word does it (then we perhaps would have done it years
ago), we did it because we think that it's the right thing to do.
I'm not sure if having an option for this is a good idea as OTOH we have people
that complain that we already have too much options. You can't serve anybody...
I also think that the "problem" is limited to only a few cases, the modeless
dialogs. Floaters often can be "docked" at the left or right side of the
document and so you can use them as in the past because the space that these
windows occupy is taken away from the spave left for the document.
Perhaps the better way to "fix" the "problem" is to make more dialogs dockable.
But we will wait and see how the demand develops.
