Of course alignment is possible - you can drag the image using the mouse pointer
of move the selected image using the shift keys.
I can't find any hint that this does not work "as designed", but may be you have
an idea for an Enhancement or useful new features? In WRITER tables more
alignment possibilities are offered, but the anchoring model for pictures in
WRITER is completely different from the one in CALC, so I doubt that there are
many possibilities.
