Adobe InDesign CS3 has also more advanced table styles, especially in respect to
background-color settings, see corresponding issue for Calc
(http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=78181).
Indeed, virtually every complex table on the net is formatted this way,
therefore it remains a mystery why such a proven feature is not implemented in
office applications. See also
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Talk:Calc/To-Dos/Usability#Highlight_Row
for a more detailed description of this issue applying to Calc. As stated, Adobe
InDesign CS3 has this feature (see demo at
http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/features/).
PS: Added myself to cc-list.
