This issue looks like a duplicate of issue 81764. From my point of view the necessary steps to reproduce the bug are this: 1. Open OpenOffice.org Writer 2.3 2. Press CTRL + i. 3. Start typing something. 4. Press CTRL + i again. 5. Continue typing. 6. Press CTRL + i again. 7. Continue typing. Actual Results: Text in step 7 remains non-italicized. Expected Results: Text in step 7 should be italicized.
