Sure, they mean about the same I guess, but in OOo it's "extension".) Unfortunately there is no way (as far as I know) for the odfconverter extension (as installed from the .oxt file) to tell the hosting OpenOffice.org that it requires features so far only present in the ooo-build builds (including Novell Edition), i.e. the pre- and postprocessing hooks.
