In our user's mailing list a user reported that OOo refused to start up after
having run Hitman Pro, and he could not reinstall it. The installation stopped
with an error 1935 and then rolled back.
With a new attempt he also got Internal error 2908
{D01FF31D-E0B2-4AA9-9A63-C1C93F74088B} followed by Error 1935. An error occurred
during installation of cli_basetypes,publicKeyToken="ce2cb7e279207b9e",version="
1.0.7.0",culture="neutral".
(actually the error was in Dutch; my translation here).
In the end the problem was resolved after the following steps:
- running "msiexec /unregister" from the start menu, followed by running
"msiexec /register"
- find all directories having to do with OOo (such as in Program Files and in
Documents and Settings/<username>/Application data) and removing or renaming
them
- find on the harddisk any files named cli_types.dll and removing or renaming
them
- back up the registry, then delete any groups and keys having to do with
OpenOffice.org
- removing or renaming mscoree.dll from \Windows\System32
After the last step, logged in as another user, he was able to reinstall OOo.
This had not been possible until mscoree.dll was removed, so that seems to be an
essential step. Whether any of the other steps were actually necessary is
unclear.
