Yes, the document starts with an even (left) page. The empty page in the pdf
file is the automatically generated right page (the first page is always a right
page). To get rid of this empty page, you can use the "suppress automatically
inserted blank pages..." option in the pdf export dialog. I'll resolve this
issue as "invalid".
