I can't reproduce the bug.
Please have a look if this still occures in the released OOo 2.3
When you change into the master view there should be a floating toolbar.
If there is no toolbar you can switch on the toolbar with 'View/Toolbars/Master
View'
Click on 'close master view' and you should be back in the normal mode.
