Thank you for the explanation. It's really fine that it's a feature and not a
bug. And it's great that Calc has the option for regular expressions.
But may I ask you a question? Why are regular expressions ON by default?
First, it's confusing for people like me from the point of compatibility with
other spreadsheets.
Second, if you take a look at most of text editors including OO Writer, you
will find that everywhere regular expression are OFF by default. As for me such
default is a kind of logical inconstancy.
