When embedding text frames (de: "Textrahmen") and trying to format them with
frame templates (de: "Rahmenvorlagen") in OpenOffice.org Writer 2.3.0, German
version, Windows XP SP-2, changes in the definition of the template do not
apply to the text frames embedded beforehand.
Example: I'm trying to simulate a marginal column with text frames; thus I
changed the definition of the existing text frame template "Marginalie" to the
following values:
* "Type: Width" - "2,00cm"
* "Type: Position: Horizontal: From left" - "15,00cm"
Later I wanted to make the marginal column larger and thus changed the
definition of the text frame template as follows:
* "Type: Width" - "3,00cm"
* "Type: Position: Horizontal: From left" - "14,00cm"
The marginal column I'm trying to create should now be 1 cm wider and start 1
cm earlier from the left. In the dialogue box, "Update automatically" (de:
"Autom. aktualisieren") is checked.
The changes of the text frame template do _not_ occur in the text frames of the
document; the embedded text frames remain with the old values and positions
("15,00cm" from the left, and witdh of von "2,00 cm").
When clicking on each text frame with the right mouse button (object menu), I
can correct the formatting of the text frame manually; that overrides the old
formatting, and obviously the text frame template also.
It is also possible, to click on a text frame and then apply the text frame
template from the stylist; that applies _partially_ to the text frame: It moves
1 cm to the left (whcih is as intended), but remains with a width of 2 cm
(which is not intended). I think, this might also be a bug since this behaviour
appears quite erratic, at least to me.
I checked the text frame template several times, and they have the new
definitions (width "3,00 cm"/ position "14,00 cm").
As far as I understand the concept of templates, they're supposed to guarantee
a homogenous formatting; thus, changes in a text frame template IMHO should
apply the the text frames that are formatted with this template. Thus I'm
suggesting the enhancement, that text frame templates should behave like other
templates.
Thanks & regards, asb
