The only way I found to work with this was force-braking the line. For example: The total amount owned was US $ 123,654.00. The total amount owned was <line-brake> US$ 123,654.00. In fact I'm using this in Brazilian Portuguese and the defect occurs between 'R' and '$', in Brazilian currency symbol 'R$'. But it also occurs in any letter-$ combination.
