I have reproduced this issue three times using the same pasted image in a long
document with many embedded drawings. By varying the length of the caption I am
able to reproduce the hang or not.
Unfortunately, the document is proprietary and cannot be distributed. I will
try to create a smaller test case, and incidentally confirm that it is not
related to the particular drawing or to some other property of the document.
