We had something similar in Issue 76391
My test results with "2.3.1 Multilingual German version WIN XP:
[680m9(Build9238)]" and a .HTML document on my harddisk:
I can confirm the reported problem to open the document from MS EXPLORER, only
"SWRITER" will be supposed in context menu, ad that will open the document in
the "normal" WRITER, not WRITER HTML
Same bad result when I select "OpenOffice.org 2.3" in the list.
Even Wrong if I try to open the document from WRITER's OOo File open dialogue, a
"normal WRITER document" will be opened. Also wrong using WIN dialogue.
Same Problem with "OOo-dev 2.3.1 WIN XP: [680m8(Build9236)]"
Works fine if I select "OpenOffice.org 2.0" in the list
Works fine if I select "OpenOffice.org 1.1.4" in the list
