When exporting a formatted spreadsheet (containing styles, formulas, etc.) from
Microsoft Excel 2000 in XML Spreadsheet format, the default file extension for
the resulting XML Spreadsheet document is "xml". But when the file extension for
the exported document is manually changed back to "xls", Calc attempts to
perform a text import of the XML Spreadsheet file.

The correct way to render an XML Spreadsheet document saved with an "xls"
extension is to render the document as an XML Spreadsheet, not to attempt a text
import of the file. This behavior is already built into Excel, and should be
implemented in Calc, as the user community already expects it.
