Why do you want to pick only one convention and deprecate the rest? Ultimately it's not up to us to decide; if there is sufficient demand for either one it makes no sense to deprecate any of them. OTOH, if the majority of the users only use one convention and don't care about the rest at all, then there is a good reason to deprecate the rarely-used ones. But now is not the time to make that decision.
