------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 16 17:12:52 +0000 2008 ------- There is a serious bug in OpenOffice Writer (possibly in other tools too) that causes instant crash of the application. Situation, described below happened to me twice with (nearly) disastrous results. Description may seem strange but it happened twice so I think it should be reported. Versions affected: 2.1, 2.3 (both 100%), possibly all versions from 2.0 up OS: - Slackware Linux v.12 (+ OO 2.3) on Intel dual core - Windows XP (+ OO 2.1) on laptop with Intel P3 mobile Description: In both cases I was composing document, rich with formulae and pictures. When the writing process was approaching final phase, document was quite complex in terms of inserted objects. When doing final corrections I was moving up and down the document and here Writer crashed twice. Application died immediately destroying all my work (up to last manual save - I disabled auto saving because the process was quite slow). I noticed it can happen only when manually moving the slider with mouse up or down and (possibly) with mouse cursor outside the slider area when moving. I suspect that the bug is the object placement/rendering (or whatever it is) when sliding the document with slider. However, PgUp/Down, cursors and mouse roller do not cause crash (at least in my case). I also suspect that it can happen only when there are lots of equations in the document. I guess it cannot happen with text only document or text+picture document but I'm not sure.
