The function SUBTOTAL() can be used for this, it respects filtered data. See the
online help for SUBTOTAL and menu Data->Subtotals when cell cursor is positioned
on a filtered range. Function index for SUBTOTAL would be 2 for COUNT and 3 for
COUNTA.
