In my eyes, this needs no additional explanation - this is industry standard in
Word processing. Hard formats will outrule style formatting.
If you still think that this is worth having an entry in the Help, feel free to
submit an RFE for "Documentation" component.

Well, the feature is called "Import styles" and not "import all formats
available" (which would result in chaos). If you'd done list formatting via
styles (list styles which also can be applied to paragraph styles on their
"Numbering tab") this would have been copied/imported.
