What I did was this:
0. started Writer
1. deleted all of Openoffice.org's default colors (because I didn't like them
much, mainly -- but that's not the issue) -- that means, I went to Tools >
Options > Openoffice.org/Colors > Delete...
2. set up a new palette containing a few colors (ten) via the Add button
3. clicked OK in the Options window (everything seemed to work fine, the color
palette contained the ten colors I defined)
4. closed Writer
5. restarted Writer (and now all the colors defined were gone)

This happened several times. once when I had defined more colors, not all were
deleted, but most.
