But it is duplicate to 87470. And no, it's not a defect, it has been a decision.
As described in the mailing lists, we have to decide to release and have to set
a date for that. So it might happen that we miss a release date for a new Java.
And so we bundle this new Java with the next OOo release.
It has also been written that the Java installer doesn't have the ability to
check whether a newer Java version has been installed. We didn't modify this
installer so the bundled Java behaves like the unbundled on. Normally we are up
to date with the bundled Java version so I don't see the need build in a version
check tool to verify the installed Java versions. At least because we have heard
that the Java developer are on track to do it with their Installer.
