------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Apr 1 05:22:34 +0000 2008 ------- >From the Ubuntu bug report: OpenOffice.org doesn't use the FreeDesktop directories spec On Linux, OpenOffice.org uses the $HOME/.openoffice.org2 folder, which doesn't match FreeDesktop.org recommendations. You should use the $XDG_CONFIG_HOME environment variable ($HOME/.config) For all your config/preferences files. This folder should be removable without any data loss. Then, all the user data like dictionary, extensions, templates,... should be in $XDG_DATA_HOME ($HOME/.local/share). And, if any, your cache should be in $XDG_CACHE_HOME ($HOME/.cache). See: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/basedir-spec http://ploum.frimouvy.org/?184-cleaning-user-preferences-keeping-user-data http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/XDGConfigFolders https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259356 --- Note it appears that Gnome is in the early stages of converting over to this (compiz, gtk, totem, and tracker are already converted and probably others) and it has been a standard for about 5 years. It appears that Mozilla (including Firefox) will be converting over to this eventually they have preliminary patches for it as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
