The formula parser always expects an expression following an operator -
otherwise it would be quite senseless to have an error recognition in the
parser. But you needn't add a phantom, much easier is an empty expression, so
that your formula code will look like:
K sub z (Indicator) = { [Ind^{1-{}}]_e . [H_3 O^{1+{}} ]_e } over { [HInd ]
