2008 -------
Reproduction 
 1. Tools - Options - Language Settings - Languages.
 2. Activate "Enabled for Asian language" and OK.
 3. Type something in Writer and select it.
 4. Format - Asian phonetic guide...
 5. Make sure a base text field is already filled.
 6. Fill a corresponding ruby text field with something.
 7. Choose one of the alignments.

Results with OpenOffice.org 2.4
 Alignment  Field shading  Result
 =========  =============  ======
 Left       is drawn       Pass
 Center     is drawn       Pass
 Right      is drawn       Pass
 0 1 0      is NOT drawn   Fail 
 1 2 1      is NOT drawn   Fail 

Expectation
 Ruby text field shading should be drawn all the time regarding its alignment 
 when View - Field Shading is activated.
