The attached file checks out with Adobe Professional 8.1.2 preflight for me (I
used the PDF-1a verification). Moreover both error messages are wrong with
respect to the attached file: the file begins with
%PDF-1.4
%
after the percent more than four bytes >127 follow.
Also the file is tagged as seen by Acrobat File->Document Properties, the
document catalog contains the /MarkInfo dictionary.
Something seems to have gone wrong here, could you please verify that your
Acrobat version actually saw the attached file ? The error messages show a
differently named file (testpdf-a.pdf vs. testpdf-a[1].pdf).
