2008 -------
I have two Word files loaded with diagrams and graphs and formulas that I've
been using to "benchmark" openoffice.
These are very complex documents from an old engineering university report of
mine, from 1999.
It is *impressive* how good Writer has gotten along the years. And now it is
just about letting me drop Word for good. The number of issues is now so small
that I made a list, that I put here below. I will attach the Word documents for
you to see.
This is the list:
OpenOffice 2.4 vs. Word 2003 in my old faculty report:
File: "Trabajo Profesional - Cap 3 - Propuesta.doc"
Page 10:
- shapes-based diagram in the middle of the page is too big
- formula at the bottom of the page is way too big
Page 11:
- formula is way too big
Page 14:
- the ending "dot" in the connecting lines of the diagram of this page is way
too big
Page 31:
- the formula near the bottom of page 31 is all broken up
File: "Trabajo Profesional - Cap 4 - Analisis de Soluciones.doc"
Page 6:
- the line arrows of the diagram are way bigger than they should
- the page number at the bottom of the page is missing the chapter number
Page 11:
- the last two formulas are in the wrong size (scaled up for some reason)
Page 14 and 18:
- again the formula scale problem.
Page 21:
- in the diagram, you can see I use "comment call-outs", which open-office
is transforming into three "line arrows";
(only one of the three line segments shoud be terminated by an arrow
point); also the arrow scale is wrong.
Page 22:
- same problem as in page 21.
