vagula - un-maintained ? wtf. ? AFAICS Sun have never turned this on in their
builds - and consequently when they broken it (while fixing some other breakage)
they didn't notice at the QA stage.
ie. this is a dup. please notice the complexity of the suggested fix ;-)
