I checked with "3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [300m2
(Build9301)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Same with "2.4.0
Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [680m12(Build9286)]".
As you see in the Open Dialogue, OOo only supports .ppt since Version 97. So
this is no DEFECT.
