There is the closed issue 73616 on this in 2.1
Using the Window -> New Window to get a second view on the same document doesn't
not work in view mode View -> Web Layout
Verified in version
a) 2.4.0-3ubuntu6 on Kubuntu 8.04
b) 2.4.0 English on Windows XP SP2
c) 3.0 (Beta Build BEA300_m2) on Windows XP SP2
Both descriptions I) and II) are valid for all three tested version, otherwise a
special note is given.
I) Description of correct behavior in View -> Print Layout
1) Start OpenOffice.org Word Processor
2) Change to View -> Print Layout if not already selected
3) Open a second view on the document with Window -> New Window
4) All modifications done in the first view of the document are visible
simultaneously in the second view, and vice versa.
5) Close the second view (no question if changes should be saved).
II) Description of error in View -> Print Layout
1) Start OpenOffice.org Word Processor
2) Change to View -> Web Layout if not already selected
3) ERROR: Opening a second view is not possible (related to issue 39153)
4) Save the empty document.
5) Now open a second view on the document with Window -> New Window
in version b) the new window is opened in read-only mode
6) ERROR: No modification done in a view is visible in the other view.
7) ERROR: Closing the second view, the user is asked if he whats to save the
changes.
