------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jun 12 16:05:19 +0000 2008 ------- OOo Writer version 2.4.1 crashes at startup just as it attempts to display the main document window. This happens when the display is set to 16-bit per pixel (in xorg.conf file). Writer 2.4.1 does *NOT* crash like this in 24-bit color display on the same computer. Calc and Impress 2.4.1 do *NOT* crash (in either 16-bit or 24-bit display) on the same computer. All OOo version 2.4.0 programs do *NOT* crash in 16-bit (or 24-bit) display on the same computer. When I run soffice -writer from a shell prompt, it tells me that a segmentation fault occurred on line 254 of the soffice script. Removing the profile directory (~/.openoffice.org2) and re-trying did not resolve the issue; re-running the program led me through the license agreement and first/last name screens. Then, just as Writer began to display the main document window to the screen, it crashed. I reported this to the Linux discussion forum (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6707); user "Hagar de l'Est" recommended that I report this issue here.
