Thus, I'm pretty sure your patch hides symptoms only, and does not fix the root cause, thus I'm pretty reluctant to simply check it in. CC'ing ssa to get his opinion. Also, I don't see a connection between your patch and the attached stack - the latter does't show any VCL window, does it? Yet more, the stack suggests that OOo is currently shutting down, which is also strange. Simply cancelling the dialog should definately not shut down OOo.
