------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Mar 24 06:26:37 -0800 2005 ------- I think, this issue deals with 2 different problems, which should be treated separately. So may be it was wrong solution to mark 32869 as a duplicate of this. First, OOo needs support for OpenType-specific features, available both in Open TrueType fonts and OpenType fonts with PostScript oultlines, no matter, whatever their font file extension is (*.ttf or *.otf). I understand this task requires a large amount of work, bot sometime this needs to be implemented. Second, it should be possible to install OTF fonts (i. e. OpenType with PostScript outlines) with spadmin, and OOo should be able to access OTF fonts already installed system-wide. This problem has nothing to do with OpenType specific features: it is just about the same level of support, which already exists for other font formats (Type 1 or TTF). I think, the second task may be resolved easily, since OTF fonts are already supported by freetype. Moreover, there are strong reasons for which it should be resolved immediately. It's a shame, but OOo seems to be the ONLY serious X11 application, which still knows nothing about this font format, since all other applications also use freetype and take advantage of its capacities. In fact, the absence of OTF support in OOo is the only reason which prevents some free font developers from publishing their works in this format, even if it may be more convenient than ttf. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
