------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Mar 26 03:33:40 -0800 2005 ------- When an OOo Writer document is saved as "Text Encoded," line breaks that resulted from the right indent cursor setting in Writer disappear. So, if I were to set the right indent cursor at the 3 inch mark on the horizontal ruler, then begin typing a line of text, a new line would start once that point was reached. In MS Word 2003, saving a document as a plain text file with the following settings: Text encoding: -Other encoding: US-ASCII Options: -Insert line breaks (checkbox is selected) -End lines with CR/LF ...will result in a plain text file wherein the line breaks caused by the right indent cursor are preserved. For example, the following document in MS Word 2003 was saved with the above settings, with the right indent cursor set at 3 inches. http://orst.edu/~ochsnerb/word.txt If, however, I make similar selections in OOo Writer: File is saved as "Text Encoded" (either via File Menu (Save As...), or via toolbar icon if it is the first time I saved the document) A "ASCII Filter Options" window appears. Character Set: Western Europe (ASCII/US) Paragraph break: CR & LF ...any line breaks that were created by the right indent cursor disappear. For example, the following document in OOo Writer was saved with the above settings, with the right indent cursor set at 3 inches. http://orst.edu/~ochsnerb/OOo.txt So, my issue is that plain text files created with OOo Writer are not preserved. I hope I have explained myself well enough. Terribly sorry if this ends up being a duplicate issue, as I spent a good 30-45 minutes searching for one already posted. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
