Yes, the implementation can be improved. But I think, that a solution with expm1
and log1p would be better than cutting the series. I have not yet compared it,
but calculating (1+r)^n-1 via expm1(n * log1p(r)) works for me.
Such would increase the accuracy in other extreme cases too. For example
RATE=1e-12, NPER=600, PV=-3000, FV=0 results in 4,99955553660135E+000 but should
be 5.00000000150250E+000 (as MuPad and Gnumeric calculate).
=PMT(4.567E-015;10;1000;0;0) is not OK. It returns -9,99997058450071E+001 but it
should be -1,00000000002512E+002.
