In option dialogs checkbox labels accentuated capital letters are hidden.
My understanding is that the height of the label is given by the height of the 
checkbox.
If you select the checkbox you can see the thin rectangle around the label. 
For a letter like E the upper edge of the rectangle is exactly on the highest 
horizontal bar of the E. So an accent can't be seen.

For example you can see in Calc  : Menu Tools > Options > OOo Calc > General 
and checkbox n° 2, 3 and 4.
