The "@" character in the Luxi Sans font on Red Hat Linux 4, in this file:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 70121 Apr 16 2005
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/l048013t.pfa

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/l048013t.pfa: PostScript Type 1 font text
(LuxiSans 1.1000)

if referenced in an OpenOffice Writer document and exported to PDF,
causes the PostScript interpreter on the printer to abort with the
following error message:

    ERROR: undefined
    OFFENDING COMMAND: 0a30303030303030

    STACK:

    -mark-

This has been tested on two different printers (HP LaserJet 8000 DN, and
Savin C3528), and the results are the same on both. The latter printer has
a true Adobe PostScript 3 rasterizer. Oddly, Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 has no
problem displaying the PDF, nor does Ghostscript 8.54.

How to replicate: Open a new Writer document, insert a single @ character,
change the font to Luxi Sans, export to PDF, spool directly to printer as
a PDF file (not by printing from within Acroread).

The font file originates in the fonts-xorg-base-6.8.2-1.EL package on RH4.

This bug is an OO regression. The fault does not occur with OO 2.3.1.
It does occur with OO 2.4.0, OO 2.4.1, and OO 3.0.0 beta2.

The bug is especially annoying as there is no obvious way for an ordinary
user to track down the source of the problem starting from the printer error
message, and the PDF simply refuses to print.
