------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Mar 28 15:45:04 -0800 2005 ------- I know one problem per message but theses two are linked. Python has not script editor. And the script editor for the others complains if java is missing. What god dam functions is java doing in a script editor. The thing that must work. This java usage has to be checked into why. If java is missing openoffice sould still have fully working version of Writer Calc Draw Impress and Math. Part of this is a working macro system with editor. If you require highlight stuff the best start is http://www.scintilla.org/ Ie it would highlight no what lang was being used. What happens if lets say someone decided to add ruby or some other lang to Openoffice they have to create a new editor. This is a bad idea really bad idea. Only way we can stop this from happening is having a very flexable editor system with plugins. Ie plugins provide more advance functions like what functions are in the file and so on. Since python and basic are in the system and are shiped with openoffice I would say editor plugins be python or basic. But basic mode sould support something like scintilla.org that lets you highlight just by adding a description of the language. Ie the edit button sould always work even if it shows a warning message saying this lang does not have a highlight filter or advance features continual at you own right continaul cancel. We really need to plan for the furture uses of openoffice. There is no reason to say that Openoffice could not be running on some strange platforms without java and they are still around amiga old os is still developing they need a Office program left overs of BEos an they need a Office program. Part of this is making sure we don't build in a deps that are not required and java is under this. Sorry for woffle but this annoys the heck out of me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
