It actually works as designed: just choose a checkbox or a radio button and
change its background color.
The problem with push buttons is, that you actually cannot see the background as
it is completely covered by the button face. I know that we change the face
color of the button as well, when not using native widgets, but this is wrong in
my eyes as it is the foreground color. The foreground color, however, is
provided by the theme when using native widgets and cannot be changed.
