I opened OpenOffice two days for the first time in weeks (don't know how
many). The upper right corner graphic popped a balloon saying a newer version
was available and something like "click here to install/update."

I did. During the installation process, a feedback loop (probably caused by a
dowhile or while loop) created an error message. Only button available
was "OK". However, each time I clicked the button or hit enter, the same
message popped up again in less than one second. This error message
was "Modal" preventing me from using any other resource on my computer.

Needless to say, the frustration was great enough that I never thought to write
down the error message. Eventually, the only alternative I had was to cold
boot my system. Even the Ctrl-Alt-Del three finger salute would not work.
(This may be a problem with Windows Vista, but...) In other words, the only
alternative I had was to unplug my system unit, then replug, and repower.

Whatever the feedback loop did, the only problem it caused was that the
previous installation of OpenOffice was unusable. I had to download the latest
version fresh and do a fresh installation after uninstalling the crashed
previous version.

Do not get me wrong. I love your product. However, I thought this may be
something you may wish to investigate. Also, the problem may be on my system
unit with the security systems I have implaced. Some are rather unique.

Thank you for your valuable time and efforts. Keep up the great work.

P.S. - Was asked to select a Subcomponent. I am unsure if the "www" is correct.
