There ARE some focus bugs concerning this feature.
Please try to reproduce the following steps which I can reproduce in StarOffice
9 Beta BEB300m3 (Build:9328) Windows and Linux:
- open a (blank) draw document
- insert a table
- re-focus the table by clicking inside a table cell (cursor displayed) and then
clicking the table frame (cursor vanishes)
- press DEL
-> The Table floater stays open until you click somewhere in the document
