------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Mar 29 18:25:52 -0800 2005 ------- Writer does not handle linked objects in old MSWord DOC files. I have a number of them and when opened in any version of OOo Writer, the objects do not show up in any way at all. Wouldn't it be possible to at least preserve the path to the source file? If I open the old DOC file in a pure text editor, I can see the paths to the source files embeded in the file, but nothing at all shows up in OOo Writer, just a blank page. These particular links were to CAD drawings. MSWord stored an image of the drawing in some format(who knows what), so that it could display the linked files as they were when linked without starting the application. You'd have to tell it to update the image if you changed the source. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not in any way pushing for a clone of M$W. I'm just wondering what a good way of handling this situation may be and if any developer may be interested in doing something along these lines. I'm sure there are a lot of old M$W files out there that may need to be opend up and edited. I can re-insert the objects in OOo after opening, but in many cases I don't know what the source files were. It would be nice if OOo Writer could handle that graphic format, whatever it is. - Alex --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
