The zoom in button will cause it to wait for you to click the slide. Reproduce by: Making a new or opening a presentation. Adjust toolbars to contain the zoom option. Select zoom out from the zoom menu. (notice the instant reaction) Select zoom in from the zoom menu. The slide will not react even if you continue to click elsewhere in the program. Once you click on the slide display it will zoom in.
